JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — Profits were up sharply during for Winn-Dixie during the second quarter, but sales were soft, the retailer said Wednesday. Winn-Dixie said it reduced the promotional activity it typically engages in around the holidays and saw profits as a percentage of sales improve by 1.4% to 28.1% of sales.
