ROCKVILLE, Md. — The Food and Drug Administration is seeking comments and information about front-of-package nutrition labeling and on-shelf tags as it deliberates about how to enhance the usefulness of such information, it announced Wednesday.

In addition to learning more about the extent to which consumers notice, use and understand such labeling, the FDA is seeking research that assesses and compares the effectiveness of different approaches to front-of-pack labeling; graphic design, marketing and advertising information about point-of-purchase information; and how it may affect decisions by food manufacturers to reformulate products.

Instructions for sending comments are available here on the FDA website. They will be accepted until July 28.
