Florida Whole Foods to House CSA’s

Whole Foods in Florida will soon be opening its doors to Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) programs.

MIAMI — Whole Foods in Florida will soon be opening its doors to Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) programs.

In a CSA, participants purchase a "share" of a local farm during the off-season which helps support the farm, and in return, subscribers receive weekly boxes of fresh produce straight from the farm during the harvest months.

Any Florida farm is eligible for the program and farmers will be able to use Whole Foods' facility for free for weekly distribution, according to The Miami Herald.

Whole Foods successfully tested the program in five Florida stores before deciding to launch statewide.

"We know that more and more people are embracing eating local and we want to provide them with more alternatives," Russ Benblatt, spokesman for Whole Foods in Florida told The Miami Herald. "There are a lot of small farms in Florida that really can’t supply our stores because of the size of the farm or space."
