NEW YORK — The Food Marketing Institute’s first-ever Private Brands Summit, which kicked off yesterday and runs through tomorrow at the Waldorf-Astoria hotel in New York, is just the beginning of the association’s greater focus on private label.

FMI President Leslie G. Sarasin announced today that FMI will also sponsor the Private Brands Business Conference in Dallas, Oct. 26-29, 2009.

In addition, FMI will give private label more exposure at its 2010 show in Las Vegas. The 2010 event will include a private-label pavilion on the exhibit floor, as well as educational sessions dedicated to the industry.

FMI also plans to conduct more private-label industry research, and make the Private Brands Summit an annual event.
