FMI Pharmacy Moves to Las Vegas With FMI 2010 Event

The Food Marketing Institute’s pharmacy conference will be held simultaneously with FMI 2010, May 11-13, in Las Vegas. This year’s conference will be called FMI Supermarket Health and Wellness Conference.

ARLINGTON, Va. — The Food Marketing Institute’s pharmacy conference will be held simultaneously with FMI 2010, May 11-13, in Las Vegas.

This year’s conference will be called FMI Supermarket Health and Wellness Conference. It is being billed as an inaugural event, the first major health and wellness event developed by FMI, according to an FMI statement sent to members.

“The supermarket combines the unique assets of food products, pharmacy and knowledgeable nutrition experts in one location to help America’s grocery shoppers better manage diseases, lower stress, improve nutrition and enhance their quality of life through healthy eating and proper use of medications,” the statement read. Co-locating with FMI will allow attendees an opportunity to experience the “big picture” at one of the largest shows in the country.

This year, FMI pharmacy co-located its conference with the GMDC Health Beauty Wellness Marketing Conference in Orlando, Fla., in September by the Global Market Development Center, Colorado Springs.

An FMI spokeswoman told SN next year’s GMDC dates for its HBW Marketing Conference, Sept. 10-13, simply did not work out for FMI. David McConnell, president and chief executive officer of GMDC, confirmed the conflict in dates with FMI during a presentation given by GMDC last week in New York.

Next year’s FMI pharmacy meeting offers attendees access to FMI 2010, as well as 19 hours of strategic collaboration exchanges, 8.5 hours of business appointments and over 13 hours of education programming, FMI said.
