ARLINGTON, Va. — Food Marketing Institute here said yesterday that more than 1,300 executives have already registered to attend the FMI’s 2009 Future Connect conference, the leadership education event that is replacing the traditional FMI Show on an alternating-year basis. The first Future Connect is scheduled for May 4-6, 2009, at the Hyatt Regency in Dallas. “Future Connect is designed to help the industry avert a workforce crisis,” said Tim Hammonds, president and chief executive officer, FMI. ”Retiring Baby Boomers, declining birthrates and recruiting challenges will create a leadership void unless the industry moves aggressively to address it.”
