ARLINGTON, Va. – The Partnership for Food Safety Education here, a non-profit consortium of industry associations, professional societies, consumer groups and federal agencies, is launching a video contest for consumers to talk about how they safely prepare holiday foods.

“With the “My Food-Safe Holiday” video contest, we are encouraging consumers to share a short story about their food traditions, safe preparation of favorite foods, and the magic Americans put into their winter holidays,” said Shelley Feist, the consortium's executive director, in a statement.

Home videos entered in the contest must be two minutes or less in length, and must incorporate at least two of the four core safe food handling practices -- clean, separate, cook and chill. Winning videos will be selected by a panel of food safety educators and judged on correct incorporation of food safety practices, use of storytelling, overall originality, fun and creativity.

Prizes include $250 for the first place entry. Winners will be announced on the partnership’s Facebook page in early December. Information, including rules and eligibility information, can be found here..
