Frahm Named Chairman of CGA

The California Grocers Association yesterday said it has named George Frahm as its new chairman.

SACRAMENTO, Calif. - The California Grocers Association yesterday said it has named George Frahm as its new chairman. Frahm is executive vice president of retail operations and administration for Stater Bros. Markets, San Bernardino, Calif. At CGA he succeeds Bob Ling, executive vice president and general counsel, Unified Grocers, Commerce, Calif., who becomes immediate past chair at CGA.

"George is a real grocer's grocer," said CGA President and Chief Executive Officer Ronald Fong, in a prepared statement. "He is a good businessman with a broad understanding and a deep commitment to our industry. We look forward to his leadership in the coming year."

In addition to Frahm, the following individuals were elected to the CGA board of directors executive committee: Jim Amen of Super A Foods was named first vice chair; Mike Silveira of Save Mart Supermarkets was named second vice chair; John Quinn of Food 4 Less (Stockton)/Times Supermarkets was named treasurer; and Mike Stigers of PW Supermarkets was named secretary.
