Fresh & Easy to Promote Email Program in Stores

Fresh & Easy Neighborhood Market said it plans to begin an in-store campaign next month to promote sign-ups to its “friends of fresh & easy” email service.

EL SEGUNDO, Calif. — Fresh & Easy Neighborhood Market here said it plans to begin an in-store campaign next month to promote sign-ups to its “friends of fresh & easy” email service.

The service, launched late last year, enables consumers to receive emails containing news and special offers, the company said. Simon Uwins, the chain’s chief merchandising officer, said more than 45,000 people have registered with the service — an average of 5,000 a week since the program was launched in December — “and it is proving to be an exciting new promotional tool for us,” he noted.

According to the company, the most recent email alerted consumers to the company’s Shop for Schools fund-raising program, which helps local schools raise money for whatever they need most; that email also included current product deals and an exclusive coupon, the company noted.

The “friends of fresh & easy” program began after an online survey seeking to understand how visitors were using the chain’s website indicated there was interest in receiving correspondence from the company via email, the company said. The sign-up page can be found at www.freshandeasy.com/friends.
