PHILADELPHIA — The Fresh Grocer here is being honored for “superior employer techniques” by three local community service organizations here.

These organizations, JEVS Human Services (JEVS), the Marriott Foundation’s Bridges, and the Welcoming Center for New Pennsylvanians, each work closely with The Fresh Grocer in order to provide job placement and employment opportunities in underserved communities. Each organization will present the retailer with business leadership awards in the coming weeks, it was announced Friday.

“The Fresh Grocer is committed to offering employment and career opportunities to members of our local community,” said Patrick Burns, Fresh Grocer president and chief executive officer. “Our partnerships with human service organizations like JEVS, Bridges, and the Welcome Center for New Pennsylvanians have been extremely beneficial in helping us to continuously achieve this goal.”

With the newest Fresh Grocer location set to open next fall in New Brunswick, N.J., the supermarket is expecting to create over 200 new local jobs for those in the community seeking employment.
