WASHINGTON — Grocery Manufacturers Association here on Friday said it has named John Hewitt director of state affairs, effective Dec. 6.
He most recently had been general counsel at the California Department of Food and Agriculture. Before that Hewitt had been associate counsel at the California Farm Bureau Federation, and before that he was a land and water resource specialist for the California Regional Water Quality Control Board.
"John comes to us with extensive experience and impressive public policy acumen," said Pamela G. Bailey, president and chief executive officer, GMA. "His proven leadership skills and strong relationships throughout California make him the ideal person to build upon GMA's important work in the Golden State and the Western Region."
