H-E-B Offers Free Green Shopping Bags

H.E. Butt Grocery Co. will celebrate Earth Day by awarding free reusable shopping bags to those who recycle plastic ones.

SAN ANTONIO – H.E. Butt Grocery Co. will celebrate Earth Day by awarding free reusable shopping bags to those who recycle plastic ones.

On April 22 from 3-7 p.m., all those who drop five plastic shopping bags into its storefront recycling bins will get a reusable shopping bag free, while supplies last.

The retailer is also using Earth Day to promote its green store brands. “Did you know that each Texan generates seven pounds of trash each day?” H-E-B states in promotional materials. “Let's change. Reduce your waste with some of the green goods at H-E-B.”

These include new H-E-B aluminum water bottles;
H-E-B Compact Fluorescent Light Bulbs; Central Market Organics Coffee & H-E-B Café Ole coffees, grown on family-owned farms using sustainable agricultural practices; and H-E-B’s Enviro-Bag trash and kitchen garbage bags, made from reprocessed recycled H-E-B plastic shopping bags collected by Texas schoolchildren.
