SCARBOROUGH, Maine — Hannaford Bros. has launched an online interactive map to show where local Hannaford vendors are located. The "Close to Home Vendor Map," accessible via a link on the Hannaford.com website, enables users to see detailed maps of vendors located in Hannaford operating areas: Maine, New York, Vermont, New Hampshire and Massachusetts.
Once users click on their state, dozens of green dots appear on a map of the area. They can then click on the green dot nearest to their hometown to see which vendors are based there. For instance, the Maine map shows that Fairmouth-based Mother's Mountain supplies Hannaford with peanut butter, jelly and sauces, while Maine Distilleries in Freeport provides stores with liquor.
The Web site also includes profiles of local companies. A write-up on Wicked Whoopies from Isamax Snacks, Gardiner, Maine, notes that founder Amy Bouchard was surprised when Oprah Magazine took interest in the pies.
"In the midst of a busy day making whoopie pies, the phone rang and it was Oprah Magazine, asking if they'd be interested in sending some Wicked Whoopies to be considered for Ms. Winfrey's "O List," the profile states. Bouchard's Wicked Whoopies were ultimately added to the "O List."
