IGA Presents Grimes Award to Zaucha

CHICAGO — IGA here has presented the J. Frank Grimes Award to Thomas K. Zaucha, president and chief executive officer of the National Grocers Association. Zaucha, who plans to retire June 30, headed NGA for 28 years.

CHICAGO — IGA here has presented the J. Frank Grimes Award to Thomas K. Zaucha, president and chief executive officer of the National Grocers Association. Zaucha, who plans to retire June 30, headed NGA for 28 years.

The award is named for the founder of IGA. In presenting the award, Mark Batenic, IGA-U.S. president, said it was being presented to Zaucha "for your undying commitment to community-based independent retailers and the wholesalers who service them. We thank you for dedicating your career to ensure independents' voices are heard."

"Considered a friend and mentor by the industry as a whole, Tom believes strongly in recognizing exceptional performance and investing in leadership. He has been instrumental in the development of scholarship programs for deserving students through various organizations devoted to recognizing the achievements of entrepreneurial grocers and ensuring their continued success for generations to come."
