FORT WAYNE, Ind. — Workers in Kroger Co’s Central Division this week ratified new labor agreements with United Food and Commercial Workers Local 700 covering 2,400 employees in this market.
According to the union, the new contract preserves current health benefits with no cost increase to employees; secures a 25% to 35% increase in the employer pension contribution; expands advancement opportunities with new positions at higher pay grades; and increases current top rates ranging from 30 cents to $1 an hour, and provides bonuses for various job categories.
“Kroger and UFCW reached a good agreement that provides wage increases, affordable quality health care and a stable pension for our associates and their families,” said Bob Moeder, Kroger Central Division president, in a prepared statement.
The Kroger Central Division is headquartered in Indianapolis. The new contract covers workers at stores operating under the Kroger, Scott’s and Owens banners.
