Kosher Supermarket to Take Over Safeway Site

Seven Mile Market, which calls itself the largest kosher supermarket in the U.S., will be moving into a Safeway location around the corner from its current site here, the company said.

PIKESVILLE, Md. — Seven Mile Market, which calls itself the largest kosher supermarket in the U.S., will be moving into a Safeway location around the corner from its current site here, the company said.

Seven Mile Market caters to a predominately Jewish population in greater Baltimore, although the store draws shoppers from as far as Washington and Virginia to find kosher products they can’t find anywhere else, the company said. The move into the 55,000-square-foot Safeway site would nearly double the size of Seven Mile.

The Safeway store, which opened in 2003, is scheduled to close later this month, reports said.
