Kraft Companies Start Trading Separately

NORTHFIELD, Ill. — Kraft Foods Group and Mondelez International started trading as two separate public companies Tuesday.

Kraft has spun off its North American grocery-food business — encompassing such brands as Kraft, Maxwell House and Oscar Mayer — under the name Kraft Foods Group. Its ticker has changed to "KRFT." The ticker symbol "KFT" has been retired.

The remaining Kraft business — a global snack-food company that is marketing brands such as Cadbury, Nabisco, Oreo and Trident gum — now operates under the name Mondelez International and ticker symbol "MDLZ."

“Today is the beginning of a great new company, a totally new Kraft, one with the spirit of a startup and the soul of a powerhouse,” Tony Vernon, chief executive officer of Kraft Foods Group, said in a statement. “We see this as an opportunity to build something extraordinary, to create a renaissance in the North American food & beverage industry.”
