Kroger Pharmacist Wins Next Generation Pharmacist Award

BOSTON — Steffany Loper, a store pharmacy manager in Delaware, Ohio for Cincinnati-based Kroger, was awarded the Patient Care Provider of the Year award at the Next-Generation Pharmacist awards held at the John F. Kennedy Presidential Library and Museum here on Aug. 29.

The event ran concurrent with the National Association of Chain Drug Stores Pharmacy & Technology Conference.

Loper was recognized for helping her patients save money by dispensing generics when possible, connecting them with assistance programs, and setting up free delivery accounts for elderly customers.

She first joined Kroger in 1998 as a student, and now is a preceptor for pharmacy students from The Ohio State University and Ohio Northern University.

She previously received Krogers Pharmacist of the Year Award in 2008 for increasing the number of immunizations at her store from 750 to more than 1,100 per year.

The Next Generation Pharmacist program was founded in 2010 by Pharmacy Times and Parata Systems to recognize pharmacy professionals whose exemplary professional practice is defining the future of pharmacy.
