Kroger’s Little Clinics Exit Five Markets

BRENTWOOD, Tenn. — The Little Clinic, a wholly owned subsidiary of Kroger Co., has pulled out of Indianapolis; Houston; Toledo, Ohio; Detroit and Richmond, Va., according to an American Medical News report and confirmed by the Little Clinic’s public relations company.

SN reported that 11 clinics were closed last month in some of these markets. The report said a total of 30 clinics have been closed, leaving 117 Little Clinics in seven states.

Kroger earlier this month named Michael J. Stoll, a long-time Kroger veteran, to head the Little Clinic operation.

Kroger has reportedly been evaluating the clinics' performance. The company plans to look at expansion in 2011 after streamlining its operation, the report stated.
