WASHINGTON — The Grocery Manufacturers Association announced Monday that it will present A. G. Lafley, retired chairman of the board, president and chief executive officer of Procter & Gamble with the GMA 2010 Hall of Achievement Award, in recognition of his commitment to and achievement within the CPG industry.
The award will be presented at GMA's Executive Conference in August.
"If anyone is deserving of such an honor, it is A.G. Lafley," said Pam Bailey, president and CEO of GMA, in a statement. "His contributions to our industry and the American business community at large are great and many."
Lafley served on GMA's board of directors from 2000 to 2009. He is a member of the board of the General Electric Co. and serves as chairman of the board of trustees of his alma mater, Hamilton College. Lafley is a veteran of the U.S. Navy, where he first gained managerial and supply chain experience. He holds an M.B.A. from Harvard Business School.
