EDINA, Minn. — Lund Food Holdings is on the lookout for “Mealtime Heroes,” or people who are adept at getting a nutritious meal on the table.
“They are those incredible individuals who always find a way to create delicious, high-quality meals for family and friends,” Lund writes in promotional materials. “When time is on their side, the meal might be made from scratch. When life gets busy, they might turn to some prepared foods.”
Shoppers can nominate their heroes via a dedicated Mealtime Hero Facebook page. All nominees are considered winners, and get their profile featured on the site.
One man from Minnetrista, Minn., nominated his wife. Though empty nesters, the couple is busy with careers and volunteer efforts, which makes meal preparation challenging, he said. “
To keep our rush towards mealtime from becoming fast food or worse, we make a rough meal plan every Sunday,” the man wrote. “On the winter weeknights we might have simple meals, soups and salads with some artisan bread.
“It’s the foresight to plan and be realistic and creative that makes my wife a mealtime hero."
