Lunds Selects New Site for Downtown Store

MINNEAPOLIS — Lund Food Holdings here on Tuesday said it has signed a lease to build a 30,000-square-foot grocery store at 11th Street and Hennepin Avenue in downtown Minneapolis. The store, set for a fall 2009 opening, would replace original plans to construct a store on a company-owned site one block west, the retailer said. “While our location has changed, we have never wavered on our commitment and vision for a second Lunds in the downtown area,” Tres Lund, chief executive officer, said in a statement. “There is a tremendous need for a full-service supermarket in downtown Minneapolis.” Lund said its first downtown store, located in northeast Minneapolis, was a “tremendous success.”
