GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — Meijer has launched a free shipping program where shoppers can place an order on Meijer.com and pick up the merchandise at their local store. Weber grills, Sony and Samsung flat-screen televisions and Canon cameras are some of the items that can be ordered from the site.
Shoppers pay for the merchandise online and are informed via email when their order is ready to be picked up, usually within three days at Meijer's electronics or photo department. Items can be returned to the store.
"This is a money- and time-saving program that allows even more customers to take advantage of the great offerings we have at Meijer.com," said Rick Keyes, executive vice president of supply chain operations and e-commerce, in a statement.
Meijer's Order-to-Store model follows the launch of Wal-Mart's Pick Up Today, which offers free same-day pickup of online orders at Wal-Mart.
