Meijer Recalls Frozen Entrees Due to Listeria Risk

Meijer Distribution Center is voluntarily recalling more than 2,000 pounds of Discover Cuisine Red Curry Chicken and Jasmine Rice frozen entrees because they may be contaminated with Listeria, which can cause illness or death.

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — Meijer Distribution Center here is voluntarily recalling more than 2,000 pounds of Discover Cuisine Red Curry Chicken and Jasmine Rice frozen entrees because they may be contaminated with Listeria, which can cause illness or death. Included in the recall are 12-ounce packages of the entrees that bear the Canadian establishment number 302 and a “best by” date of Dec. 18, 2008. The meals were sent to distributors and retail establishments in Illinois, Indiana, Michigan and Ohio. The problem was discovered through microbiological sampling conducted by the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service. FSIS has received no reports of illnesses associated with consumption of the product. Only 21 packages of the recalled meals were sold at Meijer, according to the retailer.
