Meijer Takes Stuffed Pet Toy Off Shelves

Meijer removed a “Save My Planet” pet toy from many of its stores this week after a customer discovered the toy she purchased was infested with worms.

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — Meijer removed a “Save My Planet” pet toy from many of its stores this week after a customer discovered the toy she purchased was infested with worms.

According to Grand Rapids TV stations WZZM and WOOD, the item was removed from all of the retailer's nearly 200 stores in Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Michigan and Ohio.

Photos of the toy in the shape of a ferret indicated all fabrics were made in Turkey and assembled in China. The product was made of 100% recycled fiber, according the label.

It could not be determined whether just one or more items contained worms, and the manufacturer was not determined. Meijer could not be reached for comment.
