Michael Jordan Slams Retailers for Ads: Report

NBA star Michael Jordan has reportedly sued food retailers Jewel-Osco and Dominick's here, charging in separate suits that the retailers ran print advertisements implying his endorsement without permission.

CHICAGO — NBA star Michael Jordan has reportedly sued food retailers Jewel-Osco and Dominick's here, charging in separate suits that the retailers ran print advertisements implying his endorsement without permission.

The ads appeared in a commemorative edition of Sports Illustrated magazine. The Dominick's ad features its Rancher's Reserve steaks which according to Jordan conflict with his endorsement of steak houses, the Chicago Tribune said. The Jewel ad contains an illustration that inaccurately copies his brand of shoes.

Spokespeople for Jewel, a division of Supervalu, and Safeway-owned Dominick's were unavailable for comment Tuesday.
