GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — Union workers at Meijer stores in Michigan have voted to approve new contracts and benefit agreements with the retailer here, the union said.

The agreements between Meijer and United Food and Commercial Workers Local 951 came months ahead of the master contract expirations in March, the union said.

More than 27,000 workers are covered by the contracts, which take effect March 4, 2012, and vary in duration from 53 to 61 months. A separate universal benefits agreement is a five-year pact expiring Dec. 31, 2016.
