NEW YORK — More than 40 minority-owned manufacturers are part of the Summer Fancy Food Show, which kicked off here Sunday.

Companies owned by African American, Asian, Caribbean, Eastern European, Hispanic and Middle Eastern entrepreneurs are part of the Diversity Program offered by the National Association for the Specialty Food Trade, the show’s owner and producer.

The program was established in 2002 to encourage and support participation of minorities in the specialty industry through mentoring, education and research. Saturday marked the first Diversity Open Forum, where minority business owners discussed business concerns and solutions.

Minority-owned companies exhibiting at the show include ACH Food Companies; the Grenada Chocolate Co.; and Sukhi’s Gourmet Indian Foods.
