LIVONIA, Mich. — The vast majority of shoppers (94%) have used consumer package goods coupons at least once in the past year, with 77% using them regularly, according to the 2010 NCH Coupon Facts Report released by NCH Marketing Services here.

It found that 30% of consumers used more coupons in 2009 than in previous years. Shoppers are coming to stores better prepared. In 2009, 88% matched their shopping lists with coupons vs. 78% in 2007; 31% are more careful about remembering to bring coupons to the store; and 25% are clipping more coupons than before.

"With consumers' strong focus on value and a greater reliance on research and planning, these upward trends point to a permanent change in the mindset of today's deal-seeking shopper," said Suzie Brown, chief marketing for NCH's parent Valassis, in a statement.
