NEW YORK — FreshDirect, the Internet grocer here that's considering a new facility in the Bronx, could move to New Jersey instead, a published report said Wednesday.
SN reported last month that FreshDirect, which has operated in Long Island City, Queens, since its founding, was seeking exemption from certain municipal taxes related to the construction of a 500,000-square-foot facility in the Bronx.
However the New York Times said Wednesday that economic development officials in New Jersey were offering $100 million in incentives for the company to locate in Jersey City. FreshDirect employs around 1,800 workers.
