New Sunflower to Give Away Free Groceries

When Sunflower Farmers Market opens its third store here July 29, it said it plans to give the first 200 customers who make purchases free reusable shopping bags filled with groceries valued at over $50.

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — When Sunflower Farmers Market opens its third store here July 29, it said it plans to give the first 200 customers who make purchases free reusable shopping bags filled with groceries valued at over $50.

Sunflower operates 25 stores featuring "serious food at silly prices" in Colorado, Arizona, New Mexico, Nevada, Utah and Texas. The chain, founded in 2002 by Mike Gilliland — who previously founded Wild Oats Markets — plans three more New Mexico stores in 2010, including one more here and two in Santa Fe, N.M.
