NGA Names Creative Choice Finalists

The National Grocers Association has named the finalists for its Creative Choice Awards in advertising and merchandising, with winners scheduled to be named Feb. 4 at a reception during NGA's annual convention at the Paris Las Vegas Hotel.

ARINGTON, Va. — The National Grocers Association here has named the finalists for its Creative Choice Awards in advertising and merchandising, with winners scheduled to be named Feb. 4 at a reception during NGA's annual convention at the Paris Las Vegas Hotel.

Finalists in the advertising category are: member retailers of Associated Food Stores, Salt Lake, for "My Western Family," an online ad; Haggen, Bellingham, Wash., for "San Juan Vineyards," a print ad; Family Fresh Market, Hudson, Wis., for a grand opening print campaign; Trading Company Stores, Bonners Ferry, Wash., for "Manshopping Challenge," a TV campaign; Big Y Foods, Springfield, Mass., for "Living Well, Eating Smart," a public service campaign; and Newport Avenue Markets, Bend, Ore., for “Bring Your Own Bag," a multimedia campaign.

In the best-of-show merchandising category, the finalists are Dick's Markets, Salt Lake City, for its "world record eclair" in the fresh food category; Macey's, Salt Lake City, for Bagel Bonanza in the private-label merchandising category; Cub Foods Broadway, Minneapolis, for its Peace Jam Youth Project, a charitable event; Coborn's, St. Cloud, Minn., for BLEND (Better Living, Exercise, Nutrition Daily) in the healthy living category; and Pruett's Food, Broken Bow, Okla., for its pharmacy Medicare Part D Workshop in the generational marketing category.

The winners in the advertising and merchandising categories will each receive a grand prize travel package courtesy of Kellogg Co., and Unilever, which are sponsoring the awards reception.
