NGA to Switch to Reusable Bags in Bagger Contest

In a reflection of their growing popularity, reusable bags will be used by the National Grocers Association at its 24th Annual Best Bagger Championship next year, instead of traditional paper and plastic bags.

ARLINGTON, Va. — In a reflection of their growing popularity, reusable bags will be used by the National Grocers Association at its 24th Annual Best Bagger Championship next year, instead of traditional paper and plastic bags.

The championship will be held at the 2010 NGA Annual Convention and Supermarket Synergy Show, on Thursday, Feb. 11th, at the Paris Las Vegas Hotel.

"This change is a result of feedback from NGA members,” said Frank DiPasquale, executive vice president, NGA. “Additionally we will be encouraging each state contest to do the same by utilizing the reusable bag.”

NGA will provide all state level contests with reusable bags.

The Best Bagger Championship is a year-long, nationwide program in which the best-of-the-best grocery baggers in the country compete for prizes and the title of America's Best Bagger. Contestants are judged on speed, bag-building technique, and weight distribution between bags, style, attitude and appearance.
