No ‘Sabor’ for New Publix Hispanic Store

Publix Super Markets said it will reopen a store under a new Hispanic format, but not the “Publix Sabor” banner it had unveiled at some sites in Florida.

ATLANTA — Publix Super Markets said it will reopen a store here under a new Hispanic format, but not the “Publix Sabor” banner it had unveiled at some sites in Florida.

The store has scheduled a grand reopening for Feb. 19. It will include bilingual signs and employees, and product selections designed to appeal to the Latino customer, including fresh and dried chilies, dried beans, and plantains in produce; fresh conchas and flan in bakery; a salsa bar; and specialty meats, cheeses and prepared foods, Publix said.

Publix has previously opened Hispanic-focused stores in some Florida markets under the Publix Sabor banner.
