COLUMBUS, Ohio — The Ohio Grocers Association here said it is offering recycling bins to its members to enable them to collect plastic from consumers, as well as pallet and shrink-wrap from their stores, as part of a program developed in partnership with the Ohio Department of Natural Resources and major wholesalers.
Once the bags in the bins are full, they will be picked up by the wholesalers and returned to their distribution centers or warehouses for recycling of their contents, the association pointed out. OGA said it hopes to begin shipping the bins within two to thee weeks.
"Plastic bag recycling is an important step in ensuring that the government does not tell us how to bag groceries," the association said in its newsletter, The Weekly Checkout.
