Ohio Looks to Cut Medicaid Pharmacy Dispensing Fee

The Ohio Grocers Association in an 11th-hour effort has urged its members to lobby against Governor Ted Strickland's budget proposal that would reduce the Medicaid fee-for-service pharmacy dispensing fee from $3.70 down to $1.80 "to bring it in line with the Medicaid managed care plans' dispensing fees."

COLUMBUS, Ohio — The Ohio Grocers Association here in an 11th-hour effort has urged its members to lobby against Governor Ted Strickland's budget proposal that would reduce the Medicaid fee-for-service pharmacy dispensing fee from $3.70 down to $1.80 "to bring it in line with the Medicaid managed care plans' dispensing fees."

"Due to how the dispensing fee is set into law (via Ohio Administrative Code), the Governor can make this change as an emergency rule and have it become effective immediately (July 1, 2009)," the association stated in an alert to its members yesterday.
