Food Industry Association Executives, the network of state food-industry associations here, has named Jim Olsen as the new president of the group.

FLEMINGTON, N.J. — Food Industry Association Executives, the network of state food-industry associations here, has named Jim Olsen as the new president of the group. He succeeds Barbara McConnell, who had recently announced her plans to retire.

Olsen currently is president of the Utah Food Industry Association, Salt Lake City. He plans to step down from that post effective March 31, the UFIA said, to be succeeded by Dave Davis, vice president and general counsel.

Leslie Sarasin, president and chief executive officer, Food Marketing Institute, in a prepared statement cited Olsen’s “stellar leadership skills and industry acumen” and noted that he won FMI’s Donald H. MacManus Award for association executives in 1997.

Olsen has 36 years of association-management experience.
