TORONTO — Grocery stores in Ontario owned by Metro are dimming interior lights by as much as 50% during a summer effort to reduce demand on Ontario’s power grid. The effort, talking place at A&P, Dominion, Ultra Food & Drug, the Barn, Loeb and Food Basics stores owned by the Montreal-based retailer, are part of the “Leave It Greener” campaign, which also promotes reusable shopping bags, prints sales fliers on recycled paper, offer plastic bag recycling at stores and diverts cardboard and plastics from landfills, Metro said.
