PBH Represented at Let’s Move Initiative Meeting

HOCKESSIN, Del. — Produce for Better Health Foundation, as a member of the National Fruit & Vegetable Alliance, was among those who met this week with key advisors and senior staff members of the First Lady's Let's Move Initiative at the White House.

Scheduled at the request of the Alliance — a network of federal and state agencies, non-profit organizations and representatives of the fruit/vegetable industry — the meeting was intended to seek ways that member organizations could collaborate with the Let's Move initiative.

"We had two main interests going into the meeting: to encourage Let's Move to work with the Alliance to help achieve our collective objective of increasing fruit and vegetable consumption through policy and community initiatives, and to encourage Let's Move to be publicly supportive of existing Fruits & Veggies-More Matters resources," said Elizabeth Pivonka, Ph.D., R.D., president and chief executive officer of PBH and co-chair of the Alliance.

She added that Fruits & Veggies-More Matters is an existing public face for the fruit and vegetable category, with extensive education materials available and website that offers suggestions to mothers on how to get their children to eat more fruits and vegetables.
