SCHENECTADY, N.Y. — Price Chopper here launches its flu clinic services today with a press conference that celebrates a New York state law passed last year that allows licensed pharmacists to give flu and pneumonia vaccinations to adults 18 years and older.

Every Price Chopper pharmacy will have a pharmacist who has completed the required 20-hour CDC-recognized “Pharmacy-based Immunization Delivery” training program. The immunizations are limited to adults 19 years or older for flu and pneumococcal vaccines.

The services will be available in 71 Price Chopper stores throughout New York state. Patients will pay a medication charge for the shots. Price Chopper will promote the immunization service in-store and through circulars.

The retailer claims it becomes the first pharmacy chain in New York to create a statewide network of immunizers in nearly every ZIP code.
