Price Chopper Sells Tap Beer To Go

ALBANY, N.Y. — Price Chopper Supermarkets is testing a self-serve craft beer station here.

The “Growler Station,” located at the Price Chopper in Slingerlands, N.Y., a town in the hamlet of Bethlehem, sells Switchback Ale; Bear Naked Ale; Davidson Bros. Brown Ale; and Saranac Pumpkin ale — all straight from the tap.

Consumers can fill up 32- and 64-ounce and other-sized “growler” jugs that come with special caps to keep the beverage fresher longer.

The beer is sold strictly “to-go” and cannot be consumed on the premises.

Located near the store’s food court, the section is operated by The Growler Station, a Shelton, Conn.-based beer-to-go concept.

The section is popular among consumers, Kevin Schulke, senior category manager of beer and wine, said in a recent Price Chopper Facebook post.
