ONTARIO, Calif. — Pro's Ranch Market here said it plans to reopen its first Phoenix store on March 2.

The original store, which opened in 2000, suffered extensive damage following a kitchen fire last March. While the fire destroyed about 40% of the store, the rest of the facility suffered damage from smoke and fire, a spokesman told SN.

Construction of the replacement store was already underway when the fire forced the company to close the original unit. However, all employees were able to transfer to other Pro's Ranch Market locations, with bus passes given to those who did not have transportation.

The new store will be slightly larger than the original one — nearly 52,000 square feet, compared with 48,000 square feet at the burned store. Pro's operates six other locations in Phoenix and single units in Albuquerque, N.M., and El Paso, Texas, with new stores scheduled to open in Las Cruces, N.M., and El Paso.
