LAKELAND, Fla. — Publix through its Miami Division this week donated over $780,000 to 44 non-profits through a 2008 "Food For All" holiday campaign.

The funding was down from the previous campaign, where nearly a million was raised. Agencies in Miami-Dade and Broward counties were presented with checks, including Farm Share that received $68,000 for supplying the hungry with produce that doesn’t make it to store shelves.

The six-week holiday drive was conducted at checkout registers in South Florida Publix stores where shoppers were asked to donate $1, $3, or $5 to help feed the hungry.
