LAKELAND, Fla. — Publix Super Markets placed fourth in a field of roughly 20,000 corporate teams with funds it raised during the March of Dimes’ March for Babies 2008, according to the March of Dimes.

The supermarket chain, which has 1,000 units across the Southeast, raised $3.2 million during its three week, in-store fundraising campaign for the organization.

Money raised during the annual event supports research and programs that help moms to have full-term pregnancies and babies to begin healthy lives. Funds are also used to bring comfort and information to families whose baby was born too soon, or born sick. More information is available at marchforbabies.org.
