Raley’s Opts to Convert Closing Store

WEST SACRAMENTO, Calif. — Raley’s Supermarkets here said it would convert a conventional store in North Highlands, Calif., to its discount Food Source banner, rather than close it as had previously been planned.

The retailer said it would close the North Highlands Raley’s Jan. 11 and reopen the location under the Food Source banner later in the month. The company said it made the change after evaluating the needs of the local community.

Raley’s operates eight other stores under the Food Source banner. It describes the concept as a discount warehouse-style store with low prices and specialty departments including a tacqueria.
