READING, Pa. — Redner’s Markets here on Friday said it would randomly award 400 gift cards valued at $100 each during March to celebrate its 40th anniversary.

The company, which operates 38 Redner’s Warehouse Markets and 13 Quick Shoppe locations in Pennsylvania, Maryland and Delaware, was founded March 1, 1970, by Earl and Mary Redner, who invested their life savings into two failing stores. Today the company is run by Earl's son, Richard, president and chief executive officer, along with his grandchildren, Ryan S. Redner; chief operating officer; and Gary M. Redner, executive vice president of procurement.

"What my father and mother began in 1970 was a huge venture, and they put their life savings into my father's dream of independent ownership,” said Richard Redner. “To be where we are today as a successful, employee-owned and independent company, says a lot to his vision in 1970 and continued leadership."

The company also said it will be incorporating information about its history in its March ads. Customers can register for the $100 gift cards inside Redner's stores.
