EL SEGUNDO, Calif. — Fresh & Easy Neighborhood Market here is reported to be planning a major cut of its health and beauty care offering down to one aisle in a chainwide re-merchandising effort.
Poor HBC sales performance is cited as the reason behind the HBC cut, according to a Fresh & Easy Buzz blog post on Tuesday.
The report said the Tesco-owned chain is expected to reduce space allocation for HBC by 40% with re-merchandising completed by mid summer. Bulk candy and packaged cookie and snack food items are slotted for the freed-up HBC space, the report stated.
The blog report also said that Frito-Lay will be prominently featured in the snack chip assortment and two aisle end-caps, which will become available as a result of re-merchandising, will be used to merchandise vitamins, dietary supplements and energy bars, according to Fresh & Easy Buzz sources.
Fresh & Easy did not return an SN call for comment.
