Report: Toys ‘R’ Us Explores Groceries

Toys “R” Us has remerchandised at least three Chicago-area stores to include beverages, snacks, cereals, confectionery and household products, according to a published report.

WAYNE, N.J. — Toys “R” Us has remerchandised at least three Chicago-area stores to include beverages, snacks, cereals, confectionery and household products, according to a published report.

The new “R Market” department has household goods including laundry and dishwashing detergent, cleaning supplies, paper towels and toilet paper, according to the report. There’s also candy, bottled water, boxed juice and other beverages, as well as pita chips, breakfast bars, cookies and cereal.

A Toys "R" Us spokeswoman declined to comment.

Featured brands include Procter & Gamble’s Cascade, General Mills’ Cheerios and Chex Mix, and Nestlé’s Juicy Juice, the report stated.
