WELLESLEY HILLS, Mass. — Roche Bros. Supermarkets is redesigning its website to include more detailed information about the food it sells.

The new site will feature food facts, recipes and videos to view and share.

“You spoke...We listened,” Roche writes on www.rochebros.com. “Coming soon: A new website devoted to everything you need to know for making food fun and delicious.” The retailer has not announced when the new site will be launched.

Roche Bros. efforts come at a time when other retailers have revamped their Web initiatives.

Hannaford Bros., Scarborough, Maine, owned by Delhaize America, launched a redesigned website this month that acts as a supermarket personal assistant of sorts, from providing birthday reminders to tracking flexible spending account purchases to notifying users when their favorite products go on sale. It also lets users create customized shopping lists that filter allergens and other ingredients they don’t want in their foods. The lists can be emailed, printed or sent to a mobile phone.

Giant Eagle, Pittsburgh, meanwhile, redesigned gianteagle.com to make it easier for viewers to navigate through store departments. There are also new tools like a shopping list that can be personalized.
