MILWAUKEE — Roundy’s Supermarkets’ expansion to Chicago could begin with the opening of its first area store in Arlington Heights, Ill., in late spring or early summer, local reports said.

Roundy’s, which previously has said it would open under a new trade name in Chicago as early as this spring, has revised its planned construction and opening schedules due to economic conditions, according to the Chicago Tribune.

The retailer still has plans for 12 stores in the market, the reports said. A Roundy’s spokeswoman wasn’t immediately available for comment Monday.
